oh the fun of shooting children!

The funny thing about this industry is sometimes you can get a reputation without actually earning it. For instance, I am a mother of four beautiful girls. From the time that I found out I had my firstborn in my womb, I’ve owned a SLR and each of my wonderful children have been photographed more … Continue reading

what has been and what is to come

In September 2010, I received a Flickr email from a guy named Oscar Ferrer. He had just gotten this business started of renting equipment to photographers and he was asking to bring a few pieces down to one of my South Atlanta Flickr meetings. I took two days to respond as I wasn’t sure about … Continue reading

shooting weddings. its all about the details

I think what separates some wedding photographers from others is definitely the eye for details. Of course, the formals and staged shots are very important to the family but what is often overlooked are the small things that the bride has chosen for her special day. Most brides have dreamed about this day since they … Continue reading

shooting boudoir

I’ve been shooting models since 2008 and typically they are a more confident personality.  They are aware of their flaws but can work around them. They know how to pose and know exactly what face looks great for the camera. I’ve worked with some of the best in Atlanta in my opinion. I started shooting … Continue reading

maternity posting tip (stiff vs relaxed)

I’ve taught a few maternity workshops now and at this last one I took a great example of before/after with relaxed posing vs stiff posing. In this short amount of time, I’ve hosted workshops … Continue reading

a story of hope in the middle of despair. back in december, a lady approached me about doing a photoshoot with her that would wind up being one of the most awesome concepts ever. she told me that she wanted to do a “trash the dress” shoot but unlike previous shoots she had seen, she … Continue reading

introducing… naturally boudoir! (via naturally boudoir)

I created a completely different blog and business name for the boudoir side of jhp. Please give it a look. Thank you! While I have been shooting under "Julie Harnage Photography" and now "Julie Hunter Photography" … I have decided to branch out with a new name just for the boudoir so that marketing would … Continue reading

welcome home

welcome home. I was asked to come out a year ago and take photos of a sweet deployment ceremony in Auburn, AL and I was delighted that I was able to make it back for the welcome home ceremony. Much happier tears! 🙂

the holt update[dot com]

Yesterday, I was able to go and spend the day with Lilla & Rebekah (Bekah to us) and take a few photos. Who am I kidding, I took a ton of photos! What was wonderfully special about this shoot was that everything had some sentimental value.
